  • REMINDER: The Modernization of Standards Processes and Procedures Task Force (MSPPTF) was formed in February 2025 NERC Board of Trustees resolution to conduct a strategic review of and re-envision the standards process. The goal of this initiative is to enable the timely resolution of reliability issues that merit a standard while maintaining the traditional hallmarks of stakeholder engagement for which NERC is known.
    • The MSPPTF has identified areas for improvement in the standards process and is conducting a deep dive into three areas of opportunity: 1) standards initiation/standard authorization requests, 2) standards development/drafting, and 3) balloting.
    • As part of this initial phase, the task force is seeking input via a survey that provides an opportunity for stakeholders to offer ideas for consideration to transform current processes to more effectively address the complex and rapidly evolving risk landscape.
    • Please complete the survey by 11:59 p.m. Pacific on Thursday, June 5. All responses are anonymous. While the task force will not directly respond to specific comments, feedback will be considered by the task force as it develops its initial outline of recommended changes that will be posted this summer for additional stakeholder input. • A 30-day informal comment period for the Project 2025-01 Canadian-Specific Revisions to EOP-012-3 Standard Authorization Request (SAR), is open through 8 p.m. Eastern, Thursday, June 26, 2025. Use the Standards Balloting and Commenting System (SBS) to submit comments. An unofficial Word version of the comment form is posted on the project page. NAGF will wend a document around to collect comments and post our comments NLT 8 p.m. Eastern, Thursday, June 26, 2025.

  • Many members will be attending the NERC Industry Engagement Workshop for FERC Order 901, Milestone 3 next week:

June 3-5, 2025 at the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City (Arlington, VA)

The workshop will focus on discussing industry comments regarding the following projects:

  • Project 2021-01– System Model Validation with Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs)

  • Project 2021-01– System Model Validation with Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs)
  • Project 2022-02– Uniform Modeling Framework for IBRs

  • The primary objective of the workshop will be to explore the key commonalities identified in the industry comments received during the balloting period, as well as questions raised during outreach leading up to the workshop. Breakout sessions will provide opportunities for in-depth discussions on the relevant standards and to integrate industry comments into these standards in pursuit of consensus. Please note that breakout sessions will only be open to in-person attendees.
