NERC News – Dec. 2023 Winter Storm Elliott Report Recommendations:

      • Conduct a technical review of cold-related mechanical and electrical generation outages to identify preventive measures.
      • Conduct a joint FERC, NERC, and Regional Entity study to evaluate blackstart unit readiness for cold weather.
      • Congressional and state legislation needed to establish cold weather reliability rules for natural gas infrastructure,
      • The North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB), gas and electric grid operators and gas distribution companies need to improve communication.

  • NERC 6 GHz Task Force.

NERC contacted the NAGF seeking feedback on potential 6 GHz band interference issues on SCADA, system protection, and voice communication due to the opening of the band to unlicensed users. The Variable Resources WG has been asked for feedback, but all members are welcome to send feedback by to Allen Schriver, aschriver@generatorforum.org.
