NAGF 2019 Annual Meeting

The 9th Annual North American Generator Forum Meeting was held on Tuesday October 15th – Thursday October 17th at the NERC Atlanta Office. There were over 130 participants, including WebEx attendees. Based on the feedback provided, the meeting was both informative and a success. Thanks to all who participated and provided feedback as well as to the organizers and to NERC for hosting the event. The meeting presentations are available in the NAGF Groupsite file cabinet under the “NAGF Meetings Information” directory.

NAGF Cold Weather Preparedness Working Group (CWPWG)

On July 18, FERC and NERC issued a staff report titled, The South Central United States Cold Weather Bulk Electric System Event of January 17, 2018. The Report discusses the cold weather event that occurred in the south-central U.S. in January 2018. One of the report recommendations is to “develop one or more mandatory Reliability Standards that require Generator Owner/Operators to prepare for the winter and to provide information regarding their preparations (or lack thereof) to their RCs and Balancing Authorities (BAs)”. An Extreme Cold Weather Standard Authorization Request (SAR) was developed, approved and recently posted for a 30 day comment period.

In light of these developments, the NAGF Cold Weather Preparedness Working Group (CWPWG) held a conference call on October 24th to review the Extreme Cold Weather Preparedness SAR and begin development of comments for submittal. Members interested in participating in this effort can contact Karen Poole karen.poole@dominionenergy.com.

Thanks,
Wayne
