Project 2019-06 Cold Weather SAR – NAGF Comments and Follow-up Discussion with NERC

The NAGF submitted comments regarding the subject Standard Authorization Request (SAR) during the project formal comment period. The NERC Senior Standards Developer for this project, Jordan Mallory, reached out to the NAGF to request an opportunity to discuss the comments in detail and to gain additional insight. A conference call was held with NERC representatives on November 14th during which additional background information regarding the NAGF comments, the generator perspective regarding cold weather events, and the proposed SAR were discussed. NERC provided insight regarding possible options under consideration for this project such as development of Regional Standard(s), modifications to existing standards, the BA/RC/TOP perspective regarding cold weather events, and a possible broader focus on extreme weather. This was a great opportunity to share information, inform, and educate all participants. It was noted that a number of NAGF members have self-nominated or have been nominated for the Project 2019-06 Drafting Team to help ensure generator segment participation.

NPCC 2019 Fall Compliance and Standards Workshop

The NPCC 2019 Fall Compliance and Standards workshop was held on November 20 – 21, 2019 in Newport, Rhode Island.
