David Costello has served the electric power industry as a protection and control engineer, corporate leader, author, and speaker for over 35 years. He is an independent consultant, the Chairman of the Board for Electrical Grid Monitoring (EGM), a Board Member for Lester Electrical, and a Board Member for Electroswitch.
An engineering graduate of Texas A&M University, David worked for Central and South West (now American Electric Power) before joining Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) in 1996. SEL invents, designs, builds and supports digital products and systems that improve power system reliability, safety, and affordability.
At SEL through 2024, David started as an application engineer and eventually became the chief officer responsible for global sales, customer service, technical support, and engineering services. Now one of the largest 100% employee-owned companies in the USA, SEL is recognized as a global leader in customer service, quality, and power systems expertise.
As an author and speaker, David has a keen interest and experience sharing lessons learned from root cause analysis. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas and Michigan, and served on the planning committee for the Conference for Protective Relay Engineers at Texas A&M University for over 20 years.
