- NERC Board Initiates Standards Modernization Task Force, Elects New Chair and Vice Chair
The NERC Board issued a resolution establishing the Modernize Standards Process and Procedures Task Force to initiate a strategic review of the Reliability Standards development process ensuring that standards can be developed in a more efficient and effective manner to better address a complex and rapidly evolving risk landscape. The Board appointed Greg Ford, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Georgia System Operations Corporation, to serve as chair and Todd Lucas, vice president of Transmission Operations and Policy at Southern Company, as vice chair of the task force.
Suzanne Keenan and George Hawkins were elected by the Board as chair and vice chair.
- Save the Date for FERC–NERC Joint Supply Chain Workshop – March 20, 2025
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) will hold a joint workshop on March 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, NE, Washington, DC 20426.
The workshop will focus on the “assessment” aspect of supply chain risk management (SCRM). Specifically, the workshop panels will discuss the proposed directive in the Commission’s September 19, 2024 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in FERC Docket No. RM24-4-000 to require that entities establish steps in SCRM plans to validate the completeness and accuracy of information received from vendors during the procurement process to better inform the identification and assessment of supply chain risks associated with vendors’ software, hardware, or services.
