Project 2019-04: Modifications to PRC-005-6
On July 30, 2019, NERC issued a Standards Announcement opening a formal comment period through 8 p.m. Eastern, Wednesday, August 28, 2019 for Project 2019-04 Modifications to PRC-005-6 Standard Authorization Request (SAR). The SAR, developed and submitted by the NAGF, requests to clarify the applicability of PRC-005-6 to the protective functions within an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) and provide the prescribed maintenance activities. Congratulations to the NAGF PRC-005-6 SAR development team on the successful submittal and approval of the SAR! Members are encouraged to submit comments in support of the SAR which can be found on the NERC Project home page: https://www.nerc.com/pa/Stand/Pages/Project-2019-04-Modifications-to-PRC-005-6.aspx
NERC Member Representatives Committee and Board of Trustees Meeting August 14th and 15th
NERC is continuing to move forward with effort to improve their effectiveness and efficiency with the creation of a new Reliability and Security Council to replace the three existing technical committees (OC, PC and CIPC). Feedback will be reviewed by the NERC Stakeholder Engagement Team (SET) who will then provide its final recommendation to the Board for approval in November with implementation in 2020.
The Reliability Issues Steering Committee (RISC) presented a preview on the 2019 ERO Reliability Risk Priorities Report which will be delivered to the NERC Board in the 4th quarter of 2019. The RISC discussed the results from the Emerging Risks Survey that was distributed on 3/26 and noted they had ten risks with one newly identified – Critical Infrastructure Dependencies. They also noted they will be placing these risks into the status of either Manage or Monitor and consolidating them into four high-level risk profiles:
- Grid Transformation
- Security Vulnerabilities
- Extreme Natural Events
- Critical Infrastructure Interdependency
NAGF-NERC-ESIG Battery Storage, Hybrid Resources, Frequency Response, and grid Service Workshop
The workshop will be held on September 17th and 18th and teleconferenced between the dual workshop locations of the NERC Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, GA Offices. Attached are the registration link and the workshop agenda.
